Fanning The Flames

Feeling hot, hot, hot !

Somewhat tongue in cheek I wrote prior to yesterday's latest debacle that anything less than a 5-0 defeat would be seen as improvement......never in my wildest nightmares did I envisage that we could go one worse !

Just when you think the club has hit rock bottom it finds new depths to take us to. I had already accepted it was going to get worse before ( and if ) it gets better. However, that I took to be the return to League 1 not that we would get our worse spanking in 32 years with a team playing without any passion. Coincidently that day 32 years ago was the day I got engaged and that particular love affair didn't end well, it seems that the one with my club is being sorely tested too !

I'm trying to imagine at what point I'd feel I'd no feelings towards CAFC. Given all the emotions, the memories, the connections, family history etc. throughout my life I can't envisage a time when I wouldn't be making the pilgrimage to S.E.7. I'm sure we all feel that but we're being greatly tested as I say.

Aside from yesterday's performance, news that Katrien and Richard Murray were absent yesterday only serves to further fan the flames ahead of next Saturday. I bet there's a few Addicks who wished they hadn't bothered going yesterday. They chose to do so and that's not because they're getting paid to do so although.......... !

What drew them to travel up to Hull yesterday will never be understood by our owners. They wouldn't grasp why I get a lump in my throat when Red, Red Robin is played at the start of games, why I cried when the players ran out when we returned to The Valley against Portsmouth, the pride I felt when my boys were mascots and certainly not when I felt a soppy sod the other day when getting emotional as Mull of Kintyre was playing in the background as I walked through the local shopping centre.

There's little left to be said on our current regime and the whole scenario. It's all been said by so many and continues to be said with each new low.

It's all going to end badly that is clear............let's just hope it all ends sooner rather than later and we can get on with restoring our club.

  1. Yeah but I'm sure they aint doin it on purpose n the players theirselves ave got loss to answer for. I rekcon the owners want ourn to win n do well but need advice from people as to wot to do cos less face it they need ideas wot work as the ones there usin aint when it comes to player recruitment n results dahn n away from our gaff.

    1. As I recall a2c you have historically been a staunch supporter of the owner and board and their decisions, urging others to get behind them rather than protesting at what most of the CAFC fan-base and now increasingly the wider footballing community regard as a thoroughly incompetent and disfunctional regime. Whether the incompetence and mis-management is on purpose or not I'm not in a position to say but the results are unacceptably the same either way culminating in very poor performances and results. Under Riga the players will have a chance to perform better individually and as a team and improve their standing with the fans. As you suggest the owner needs advice but has so far shown no inclination to accept any ideas that contradict 'his way' and unless that changes the club will remain in turmoil. If Miere goes and is replaced with a competent CEO (someone with sound proven experience) that would be a good start.

  4. Yes a2c but at least have the common courtesy to write in English so that people can understand your viewpoint ... if you cannot do so then I suggest that you keep your views to yourself.

    It's not clever, it's ignorant.

  6. Terry, a2c has consistently supported Roland and Co. No issues with that per se save for it is an increasingly unrealistic viewpoint as you suggest. However, a2c frequently undermines any comment with his mockney writing and accusations of xenophobia and sexism. This extends across a number of CAFC blogs.
a2c your views would be better received if written in plain English and are devoid of accusations of any kind of -ism or phobia.

    1. Phil, yes, I'm aware of a2c's accusations of xenophobia and sexism and indeed have recently directly challenged these accusations on Chicago Addick's blog. I think all that can be done is to counter argue wherever this is possible. Better that people can feel free to express their views in some way even if we don't agree with them or like the manner of expression but like you I have no tolerance of unjustifiable accusations.

    1. a2c, It isn't a question of liking or dis-liking the board or any individual on the basis of either their nationality or whether they are kind to their children and pets it is purely a matter of how good a job they are doing at running CAFC. I don't 'like' the way that Meire handles any aspect of her responsibilities in relation to CAFC and believe that she has had long enough to understand what she has been doing wrong and ample time to improve her incompetent performance. If that sounds nasty then so be it, I'm as disappointed as many others that she is so incapable but her continuing presence is just poisonous.

  13. there is nothing wrong with belgians, and nothing wrong with female ceos.

If Ms Meire was half the CEO karen brady is She would be a lot more Useful.

If Mr Duchatalet accepted that football is not business and should not be treated that way, and either put up the funds to allow the team to compete, and put in the people to achieve that, or sold up and let someone else do whats needed.

I am all for supporting the team, not the regieme, but the team need to give us something to support, they are not even trying

  14. I agree with wot most of BigPete is sayin on ere, Katrien is still learnin n I've eard she wants wass best for the club. The team need to up their game cos less face it they get paid loss of money n if you look at them other teams arahnd ourn, Rotherham, Bristol City, MK Dons their players are graftin to get results like BC against Boro whereas ourn aint. Still less ope Jose can get ourn goin e's our best ope for now.
